Plain Silver Quaich

History of the Quaich:
Originating in the Scottish Highlands, Quaichs were used by the Clans. Traditionally the Quaich was a symbol of hospitality, peace and friendship. It is a shallow drinking cup or receptacle with two handles on opposite sides which were typically carved out of wood or horn.
These cups were used to offer a welcoming drink (usually whisky) at clan gatherings and family occasions. At weddings, the Quaich symbolised the shared love between a couple and the coming together of their families.
Today the Quaich is still gifted to mark important occasions, they are especially popular for christenings, weddings and anniversaries. They also make lovely retirement gifts or trophies.
